Exit Zach Wilson, enter Mike White.

White has been announced as the Jets’ starter for their Week 12 matchup against the Bears, not long after news broke that the team was benching second-year quarterback Zach Wilson after a miserable game against the Patriots.

The 27-year-old White started three games for the Jets in 2021, including a memorable 34-31 win over the eventual AFC champion Bengals in which he threw for 405 yards and three touchdowns. He lost his other two starts.

Veteran Joe Flacco opened the season as the backup and started the first three games of the season for New York, going 1-2. He was demoted to third-string earlier in the year.

The Jets’ decision to bench Wilson is a monumental one, as just last year the team spent the second overall pick in the NFL Draft on the BYU product.

Wilson has struggled in 2022 and is coming off arguably the worst start of his career against the Patriots in Week 11, in which he completed 9 of 22 passes for only 77 yards in a 10-3 loss.
