Well, it’s happening.
Deshaun Watson made his Cleveland Browns debut Sunday after serving his 11-game suspension after facing accusations of sexual misconduct by more than two dozen massage therapists.
Prior to Watson’s first official snap as the Browns’ quarterback, Texans fans let him hear it with a chorus of boos.
Whether the boos directed towards Watson were because of the fact that he’s playing for a team not named the Houston Texans, the sexual misconduct accusations, or both is unclear.
It doesn’t feel like a coincidence that the NFL made it so Watson’s first game as a member of the Browns was in Houston, against the team he helped lead to two AFC South titles in the four years he was there.
Some Texans fans did give Watson a warm welcome during pregame warmups, and he autographed both Texans and Browns apparel.

When Watson ran out of the tunnel at NRG Stadium, he was mostly met with cheers, but there were some audible boos as well.
In his time in Houston, Watson threw for 14,539 yards and 104 touchdowns with only 36 interceptions. He added 17 touchdowns on the ground as well.
As for his 2022 season debut, he’s already thrown an interception.
